Web 2.0

Well... If one is to talk about Web 2.0 tools then I best use a Web 2.0 tool.

What is a Web 2.0 tool?
Well according to Wikipedia a Web 2.0 tool that allows us to facilitate interactive information sharing, interoperability, user centered design on the World Wide Web.

Why would we use a Web 2.0 tool in a school?

Well it allows us to
  • Use online applications you can use without installing them on your computer.
  • Save and share educational data on the Internet.
  • Socialize, collaborate and communicate using the Internet as a platform.
So why don't you give some of these tools a try.  I hope to highlight one tool a week.
This week.... Blogging.
A blog is a blend of web and log (blog).  Here is an opportunity for you to publish your own content to the world wide web.  Blogs can be found on virtually any topic, but how can they be used in education?
A blog can be used as a tool to commuicate with a narrow audience, such as your students, or you can open your blog up publically and have a global audience. There are numerous teachers in our district that use blogs within the classroom.
